Open this patch in the interactive PatchpadDigitone II's WAVETONE machine (select with FUNC+SYN). TBL1 is HARM, the long list of waveforms sweeping through harmonic combinations. MOD page 1's fast Random LFO on WAV1 (data entry knob B) jumps the wavetable position around for the edgy, slightly unstable digital tone, and the resonant filter with a strong envelope keeps it cutting. Sync the FX page's delay time to a 1/16 division on the pattern-wide Delay page.
SY CHORD's WAVE sweeps the machine's wavetable, so a fast Random LFO on WAVE (MACHINE: WAVE) jumps the timbre around for the edgy, unstable digital tone. TYPE Unison × 2 with a low BAL keeps it to one voice with slight unison detune. Resonance and a strong filter envelope keep it cutting. AMP PAGE 2's MODE must be ADSR for the sustain to hold.
Summit has real wavetables: OSCILLATOR 1's WAVE set to More opens the wavetable list, and WAVEMORE picks the table by name (the manual lists 60, for example Swell, Zing, Harsh, Glassy and Choral). WAVEMORE is held at a bright position, and the S&H LFO 3 on filter cutoff (via the Mod Matrix) supplies the edgy, unstable movement. LFO 3 (global, post-mix) routed into Filter Cutoff at low depth substitutes for wavetable-position modulation, a genuine approximation rather than a literal match. MODULATION MATRIX slot naming approximates the real menu layout.
Osc 1 is Harmo, an additive engine: Wave is Content (the harmonic table), Timbre is Sculpting and Shape adds chorus. Osc 2 is the Chords engine (Osc 2 only): Interval is Octave (the least intrusive chord), Inv/Trsp is 0, and its Waveform knob (the panel Shape knob) above 50 is a wavetable that morphs between 16 waveforms. Chords cannot be used in Paraphonic mode. LFO 2 runs a SnH wave at 20 Hz. Mod Matrix: the LFO 2 row to the Assign 1: Osc 2 Shape column (hold an Assign button and turn that control to assign it) at +15. Macros: M1: Osc 2 Shape (Waveform) for live wavetable position sweeps; M2: Filter Resonance, for live grit control. Values are on MiniFreak's native 0-100 scale.
M1's Random source, routed to CUT (filter cutoff) at a low LVL, is the closest onboard equivalent to the sample-and-hold digital wobble the other synths get from an S&H LFO -- Typhon's manual describes exactly this kind of stepped random modulation. Typhon's front-panel knobs are physically unmarked, so those values are clock positions, not percentages.
LFO 3 (one of Hydrasynth's three free LFOs, 3-5, since LFO 1/2 are pre-wired to Filter/Amp) sample-and-holds OSC 1's own Wave position for a stepped, glitchy wavesequencing character. Macro 1/2 are genuine performance-macro modules, unrelated to the 4 Mutator oscillator-shaping modules.
Real wavetables are available on Digitone II (WAVETONE HARM table), Syntakt (SY CHORD), Novation Summit (OSC 1 WAVE More), MiniFreak (Chords engine, Osc 2) and Hydrasynth (WaveScan); Typhon has no wavetable, so its guide modulates the WAVE knob instead. Migrated from an early single-synth file, so its filter and envelope settings are shared across all six synths.
