Digitakt II
Tracks
- T1: kick
- T2: perc1
- T3: perc2
Settings
- This pattern is deliberately hat-less — leave T4-T8 empty; do not add hi-hats or a conventional backbeat via unused tracks
- Step 8 (kick, T1): TRIG PARAMETERS microTiming p-locked to +2 (µtime units) — the 'broken', off-kilter second-kick placement (landing on '2a' rather than a clean beat) is the single most recognizable gqom trait
- Base sound, kick (T1): FX page OVER set to around 90 and FLTR page 1 machine LEGACY with TYPE Lowpass (2-pole), FREQ around 40 for a heavy, distorted, dark tail — gqom kicks are meant to feel ominous and physical, not clean
- Perc1 (T2, steps 5/13) and perc2 (T3, step 11): AMP page VOL kept low (around 35-40) — dark textural stabs, not a rhythm section
Digitone II
Tracks
- T1: kick (ALGO 8, heavy FM distortion, dark long tail)
- T2: perc1 (ALGO 1 plain carrier, dark textural stab)
- T3: perc2 (ALGO 1 plain carrier, dark textural stab)
Settings
- This pattern is deliberately hat-less — leave any unused Digitone II track silent; do not add hi-hats or a conventional backbeat
- Step 8 (kick, T1): TRIG PARAMETERS microTiming p-locked to +2 (µtime units) — the 'broken', off-kilter second-kick placement (landing on '2a' rather than a clean beat) is the single most recognizable gqom trait
- Kick (T1) base sound: SYN page 1 ALGO 8, RATIO C 0.25; SYN page 2 Operator A DEC 30, LEV 120 for a heavy transient. FX page OVER (overdrive) pushed to 100 for distortion; FLTR page 1 TYPE set toward LP with FREQ around 35. AMP page DEC 100, REL 90 for a long, dark tail — gqom kicks are meant to feel ominous and physical, not clean
- Perc1 (T2, steps 5/13) and perc2 (T3, step 11): SYN page 1 ALGO 1, RATIO C 2.50 (perc1) / 3.50 (perc2) for two distinct dark tonal stabs; AMP page VOL kept low (~35-40) — dark textural stabs, not a rhythm section
Syntakt
Tracks
- T9: kick (BD HARD)
- T10: perc1 (UT NOISE GEN)
- T11: perc2 (UT IMPULSE)
Settings
- This pattern is deliberately hat-less — T12 (the only Analog Cymbal track) stays unused; do not add a hi-hat just because it's available
- Step 8 (kick, T9, BD HARD): TRIG PARAMETERS microTiming p-locked to +2 — the 'broken' off-kilter second-kick placement is gqom's most recognizable trait
- Base sound, kick (T9, BD HARD): SYN page OVER pushed to around 110 for heavy distortion, AMP page DEC extended to around 100 for a long, dark tail — gqom kicks read as ominous and physical, not clean
- Perc1 (T10, UT NOISE GEN, steps 5/13) and perc2 (T11, UT IMPULSE, step 11): AMP page VOL kept low (around 35-40) — dark textural stabs, not a rhythm section
Notes
An intentionally sparse, hat-less pattern built around a stark two-kick figure — one on the downbeat, one deliberately off-grid — with only two quiet, dark percussive stabs for texture. The empty space and the 'broken' second kick are what make this read as gqom rather than generic house. An original pattern, not a transcription.
